Il primo resoconto del nostro contributo sulla Open Education al Didamatica di Taranto, by Gianni Marconato. :-)

Cronaca di una giornata leggera

Eccoci qua, nel chiostro della Facoltà di Scienze dell'Educazione dell'Università di Firenze.

E' il 19 Gennaio quando finalmente ci incontriamo dopo aver percorso insieme le quindici settimane nel corso sulla Open Education. Racconto questa giornata che definisco già da subito al mio arrivo a Firenze,  leggera. Sì perchè a Firenze trovo il sole e alla stazione di Santa Maria Novella Elisa mi riconosce. Insieme camminiamo e raggiungiamo la sede del Laboratorio Tecnologico di Scienze dell'Educazione.  Sono divertita quando  mi racconta che, come me,  ha imparato a leggere e scrivere con Alberto Manzi.

Passiamo per il centro, ci soffermiamo a guardare, naso in su, il campanile del Duomo.

Here is a "share" page from Google Reader. It lists all blog posts from students with most recent posts listed at the top. One nice feature is the ability to get a single feed of this aggregation of feeds - see the right margin.

What will be the effects of open education movement upon high school education?

This week I prefer to answer at this question, because I'd want to starts from my experience and analyse what could be better for my work context. I'm high school teacher (not english one :-)) so when I began this course I hoped to have some more informations about OER movement to give a choice to my school that I see, deeply in crisis. Now I try to explain some hot points that OER could solves or at least, improve.

Some people believe that open educational resources "fix" many of the problems experienced by those who work with learning objects. Why do you think they would say this? Do you agree? Why or why not?
In this post I wouldn’t talk too much about technical topics, because it’s not my specific field (standards), I’d like to give a small briefing and try to understand what is the best for my work. I’m always ready to accept best solutions that could facilitate the sharing and reusing of OER or LO but, moreover, facilitate the work.
I’d try, at first, to understand what is the difference between “Open Educational Resource” and “Learning Object”.

What can the open education movement learn from the book you chose to read? Elaborate on at least three points. Which of the ideas presented in the book did you find hardest to believe or agree with? Why?

I read "Free Culture" by L.Lessig :-) Sometimes the book tells funny situations (e.g. Clint Eastwood CD) but, over all, it highlights some paradoxes and incompatibilities between the society needs and the political answers. I generally share the book ideas, but the contents make me think about the general situation of our system. I'm gonna try to explain right there.

How can you build a sustainable business around giving away educational materials?
Well, I summarize  what is needed to  estimate the cost of an OER project:

In the end of the last week (the 6th one) I had problems in order to answer the questions, because I didn't read all the topics. Now I have a better view of the chances to share open contents.

Well, it was a busy week. I quickly read the documents so I try to expalin my opinion about the questions.

Understanding the importance and value of the public domain, how much (what percentage) of this value would you estimate is realized when works are licensed with a Creative Commons or GFDL license?
